“The Bundren building arts foundation is a nonprofit that we've started as a way to fund artists. We will be accepting money donations and we'll also have ways to commission art projects.
So if we can take this foundation and use the funds from that to find walls to paint in Houston; to find ways to fund artists, to even train artists, to find grants, to get them classes that they need or business experience that they need, or bring companies together like mine.
We have a lot of paint left over from projects that we do throughout the city of Houston and we can take that paint and donate it to artists to use on murals or other art projects.
You know, the commonly expressed term “starving artists”. There's so many artists out there that are creative, that are looking for the funds or the materials. We want to be part of helping them. I thought one of the best ways to do it would be to create this foundation.
We collectively have all this experience as a commercial painting company, working with the city and different people in the city. In addition I have a huge network of people that I've been working with over the last years.
My idea is to access my network and connect people. Take an artist for example who may not know how to get in touch with a property management company or a national brand apartment complex, or you want to get in touch with property management or general contractor or a city leader.
I could be of service to help connect people. I think that that's a great way that The Bundren Building Arts Foundation could be seen in the public eye.”
